Toyota Recalls 3.4 Million Vehicles Globally for Airbags, Fuel Tanks

Toyota has identified an issue with 3.4 million vehicles worldwide to repair separate flaws involving leaky fuel tanks and curtain airbags that can crack and hurt occupants.

The fuel tank recall is the larger one, which affects 2.87 million vehicles worldwide. The fuel emissions control canisters could crack and result in leaks when the vehicles have full tanks of gas. The recall affects Prius hybrids and Corolla compacts.

The other recall of 1.43 million Prius hybrids and Lexus CT compact cars is to repair Autoliv Inc.- supplied curtain airbags that have cracked and partially inflated in parked vehicles.

There are about 932,000 vehicles that are involved in both recalls.
